Похоже, писалось в 70-е (битлы и Маккартни были еще актуальными).
Кстати, кроме народной песни Maggie Mae, была еще у Рода Стюарта Maggie May.
Самую смешную ошибку я видел в тексте голландских маркетологов. В английском можно пропускать «вспомогательные слова» – они это знали (типа “a film that was produced by” = “a film produced by”) и сократили фразу о количестве членов семьи, участвовавших в семейном обеде, до “number of family members eaten at dinner”.

А мне кажется, что с фразовыми глаголами у людей всё-таки больше проблем
Не буду расписываться за большинство. Я пытался однажды досконально разобраться с артиклями – перерыл гору литературы, вопросы остались. С phrasal verbs мне как-то было проще. Кстати, может, не все здесь знают знаменитую фразу “What did you bring me that book to be read to out of for?”
Вспоминается еще такой фрагмент известной песни группы A-Ha:
Take on me, take me on
I'll be gone
In a day or two.

А как это переводится?
Почти дословно: «Зачем ты принес эту книгу, из которой ты собираешься (что-то) (мне) читать?» Ответ вроде как заключен в самом вопросе, так что можно ставить под сомнение логичность фразы. Есть немного более логичная версия фразы: “What did you choose that book to be read to out of for?”

I stayed indoors today during all the day, only went to a shop in the morning. But looking to the window, I can see a wonderful picture - it's snowing a bit, though the snow depth is not to big, somethng about 6-10 centimetres. It is neither cold nor warm - something about 5-8 degrees below zero (unfortunately, I can't say for sure, as I don't have a thermometer at home). So in general, to my mind, it a nice winter weather. And what's the weather like in Orenburg now?

Very similar to yours: it's snowing a bit, the current temperature is -16,5. A different thing from your weaather is that the snow cover is deeper - about 30 cm, although according to the local weather station the snow depth is 11 cm only.
Do you keep weather diaries?

Do you keep weather diaries?
I used to keep weather diaries from October 1997 till February 2001 and from December 2007 till May 2009, excluding summer months, marking the temperature 3 times in a day. I don't do it now, as I can always find all the necessary information concernig weather in Internet, so there is no necessity of keeping diaries nowadays;-)

But the word infernal doesn't have the meaning "cold"! According to ABBYY Lingvo, it has tne next translations into Russian - 1) адский; относящийся к аду, преисподней Syn: hellish , diabolical 2) бесчеловечный, дьявольский, инфернальный Syn: devilish , damnable , diabolical , fiendish 3) неприятный, отвратительный; раздражающий Syn: detestable , annoying

Hello, my dear colleague!;-). Yes, there are some changes in our weather - the temperature is already above zero now, and the snow is starting to melt:-(. Unfortunately, such weather is likely to stay in our place for a long time, so there wont't be a real winter already, to my mind:-(. And what about your weather?

It seems that your warmth is going to arrive here soon. Fortunately it won't be as big as in your place, but it will probably bring a lot of snow here which is a very good news. I hope your snow cover won't melt because of this warm weather...

You are quite right, I don't believe in infernalization of the Moscow winters, as two cold winters is not enough basis for making such a judgement IMHO:-)

Generally, I also prefer warm half year, from April till October. Stil winter also has its own beauty, certainly, when there is snow cover and moderate frost (5-10 degrees below zero). Such weather in winter is more preferable to me than thaw and rains:-)
